Baseball to Host No. 6 NC State and High Point in Midweek Tilts

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG baseball hosts national ranked North Carolina State Tuesday evening, before hosting the High Point Panthers in a two-game midweek home stand this week.  UNCG enters the week with a 2-5 record, having defeated Michigan State 4-1 in its last time out.

UNCG is coming off of a 1-2 weekend against Michigan State.  Dan Loats (Eden Prairie, Minn./NIACC) will be getting the start for the Spartans.  Loats started UNCG's other midweek games against Wake Forest. 

The Spartan offense scored 24 runs over the weekend.  Michael Goss (Cartersville, Ga./Chattanooga State CC) has hit for a .333 average, with two home runs a double and six RBI.  Tripp Shelton (Winston-Salem, N.C./West Forsyth) leads the team with a .393 average.  Dillon Stewart (Dunn, N.C./Brunswick CC) hits at a .310 average and has three extra-base hits.  Andrew Moritz (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) leads the team with two stolen bases.

NC State enters with a 4-2 record.  Brett Kenneman leads the team with a .429 average, having started all six games, hitting six doubles and two home runs. Josh McLain hits at a .364 average, and leads the team with three stolen bases.  Joe Dunand has hit two home runs and driven in five runs.

Christian Demby will be making his first appearance of the season for the Wolfpack.  The sophomore right-hander appeared in seven games, making one start.  He earned a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 innings, striking out nine batters.

High Point enters with a 4-3 overall record and will take on North Carolina Central Tuesday night.  The Panthers played a close series with the Hatters of Stetson over the weekend.  One run decided each game, and two of the three needed extra innings to be decided.

Austin Zente leads the team with a .370 average, connecting for three home runs.  Carson Jackson leads the team with four home runs and has driven in ten on the season. 

Both games will be played at the UNCG Baseball Stadium with first pitch at 4 p.m.
