GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG baseball heads across the Triad to take on the Elon Phoenix Tuesday evening at Latham Park on Elon's campus. The Spartans enter having taken two of three games at Mercer over the weekend. The Bears were ranked No. 22 during the time of the series and UNCG snapped a streak of 17-consecutive series wins.

UNCG enters having taken two of three games against the SoCon-leading Mercer Bears over the weekend. The Spartans hit at a .331 team average and have a 5.13 staff ERA.
Offense
Table Setters
Ben Spitznagel – Has hit in the top two spots of the order and has been the lead off hitter in 19 games. Currently on a six-game hit streak and has gone for multiple hits in four of the last six games. Stole three bases in the series with Mercer. Hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning as UNCG defeated Mercer 12-3, helping spark an eight-run inning.
Andrew Moritz – Has started all but one game in centerfield and hits in the three-spot in the lineup. At least one hit in the last six games, five for multiple hits. Scored a run in five of the last six games and has one extra base hit.
Caleb Webster – Webster leads the team and the SoCon with a .414 average. He ranks among the toughest in the country to strikeout, having struck out just eight times this season. At least one hit in nine of the last ten games.

Michael Goss – Has hit five home runs this season and has driven in at least one run in the 13 of the last 16 games. One hit in 20 of the last 21 games. Hit a two-run homer in the victory over Mercer on Sunday.

Tripp Shelton – Second on the team with four home runs. Hit a home run off the scoreboard in left center field against the Mercer Bears. Has hit all four home runs in the last 12 games. 26 runs batted in and has scored 26 times making 40 starts at shortstop

Jake Lewis – Lewis will be starting his third midweek game of the year. Went a season-best 3.2 innings allowing just one earned run to the High Point Panthers, April 18. Has struck out 17 hitters in 16.1 innings.
Scouting the Phoenix
Elon enters having lost five of its last seven games. Elon is coming off of a weekend in Charles where they dropped two of three games. The Phoenix salvaged the finale, defeating the Cougars, 6-4. Earlier this season, UNCG defeated the Phoenix, 12-8 at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
