Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNCG baseball saw their first midweek contest of 2020 suspended after five innings this Tuesday, after inclement weather forced the Spartans and Wake Forest to postpone the remainder of their matchup this week. The two clubs are currently scheduled to finish the remainder of this Tuesday's game in April, when the Demon Deacons come to Greensboro, playing the final four innings of the matchup before competing in their originally scheduled game.Â
After giving up three runs in the first inning, the Spartans pulled one back in the following frame, on a solo shot from newcomer Sam Koruschak. The designated hitter crushed his first home run in a Spartan uniform to cut the home team's lead to two, smoking a two-out bomb to right field.Â
Adding a third run in the bottom of the third, the Demon Deacons took advantage of a missed offensive opportunity for the Spartans, increasing their lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
Freshman Pres Cavenaugh grabbed a single in the fifth, playing in his second start of the 2020 season, before stealing second and eventually coming home on a Josh Madole two-out single.Â
The Spartans and Demon Deacons experienced a rain delay two outs into the bottom half of the fifth, before the inclement weather forced the two teams to suspend the remainder of the contest at the end of the frame.Â
