GREENSBORO, N.C. – Riding a three-game unbeaten streak, UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team travels to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford College for a Friday night contest on Snyder Field.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- Senior Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper returns in net for UNCG, as she was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for back-to-back shutouts to open the season and then earned the honor again three weeks ago for two more clean sheets.
- Among the SoCon, Tyler-Cooper leads the conference in save percentage (.880) and shutouts (6), is second in saves per game (6.75), is third in saves (81), and sixth in goals against average (0.87).
- Senior Nicole Souply and sophomore Caroline Woods lead the Spartans with three goals and one assist each for a total of seven points, while senior Ashley Avelino is third with two goals.
- Woods was most recently named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for recording five points (2 G, 1 A) in two games.
- Junior Maddy Gilhool also has four points, scoring one goal and chipping in two assists.
- UNCG was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Poll.
- Senior Kayla Campbell was the lone Spartan to be named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-SoCon team. She led all defenders in 2019 with five goals, while being a force on the back line helping UNCG to six clean sheets.
SPARTANS' LAST TIME OUT
- UNCG defeated SoCon foe The Citadel with its sixth shutout of the season, 5-0, extending its program streak to 21-0 over the Bulldogs Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
- Ten different Spartans recorded at least one point in the victory, with Souply, Nadia Wilson, Eliza Radoll, Avelino, and Woods finding the back of the net.
- Woods tallied three points, registering a goal and an assist. This was her third-straight goal in as many games.
- Senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper recorded six saves.
- The Spartans outshot the Bulldogs 21-11.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
- Katie Gilligan and Rachel Rasins lead the Terriers with two goals and two assists each for four points.
- Rasins was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on September 28 for tallying two goals and one assist in a 3-2 victory over Furman.
- Caileen Almeida and McKenzie Guest have each chipped in two goals this season.
- Maria Mon has spent the most time in net for Wofford, appearing in 10 games with nine starts, as she has let up 16 goals for a 2.21 goals against average with 51 saves.
- Caroline Doss has played in nine games with four starts, allowing nine goals for 1.81 goals against average and 28 saves.
- Wofford was picked to finish seventh in the SoCon.
TERRIERS' LAST TIME OUT
- The Wofford women's soccer team could not overcome Chattanooga's flurry of shots, falling 1-0 at the UTC Sports Complex Sunday afternoon.
- Caroline Doss (0-4-0) picked up four saves in net for the Terriers.
- Wofford tallied nine shots to Chattanooga's 19 shots.

On Friday, October 1, the Spartans hosted VMI and sported bright pink socks and recognized and remembered those who have passed, are currently battling, and who are in remission from cancer.
