GREENSBORO, N.C. – The denouement of the Southern Conference regular season standings will be solved over the next seven days as the first-place UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team concludes its special campaign with four competitive contests.

UNCG understands the math and what it needs do as it takes the court for its penultimate home contest of the 2020-21 season against red-hot Chattanooga, winners of six straight games.

Fresh off of facing one of the best home squads in the nation in VMI, UNCG now meets one of the best road teams in the country. Chattanooga's nine road wins are tied for the second most in all of Division I men's basketball. The Mocs enter the game with the best overall record of any SoCon program at 18-5.

The Spartans are looking to rebound from their road setback at VMI earlier this week. An encouraging sign is that UNCG has won its next game following its last four defeats.

Meanwhile, Chattanooga hasn't lost since dropping a 74-66 decision to UNCG on Jan. 23.

There are four games remaining in the regular season and the Spartans lead the SoCon by percentage points over Furman. Each team has four conference losses. Lurking behind both squads are Chattanooga, who rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat Western Carolina in overtime on Wednesday.

Isaiah Miller has been the fulcrum of the Spartans all season. He leads UNCG in scoring (18.4 points per game). He has scored in double figures in 38 of the Spartans' last 40 games. Miller leads the SoCon in steals (2.5), which is also eighth nationally. Miller is tied for second in SoCon history with 293 steals.

Keyshaun Langley has scored in double figures in four straight games and five of UNCG's last six contests. He has made 11 3-pointers over that span. Langley is fourth in the conference in assist to turnover ratio (1.9) and eighth in assists per game (3.6). Also, Kaleb Hunter has hit for double digits in scoring in six of the Spartans last 10 games.

Mohammed Abdulsalam leads the SoCon in offensive rebounding per game (2.9) and Hayden Koval is the conference leader in blocked shots (2.3). That is 20th nationally although his 52 total blocks are 11th overall.

Stefan Kenic made seven 3-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 29 points in the win over Western Carolina. Malachi Smith added 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. David Jean-Baptiste and Darius Banks both scored 12. K.C. Hankton collected 12 boards.

Four of Chattanooga's wins during this winning streak have been by four points or less and/or decided in overtime. The Mocs also own a 12-point road win over Wofford. Chattanooga has won nine road games, which is second in Division I men's basketball this season.

UNCG hits the road Monday when it visits Western Carolina for a 5 p.m. start.
