CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Competing in the second and final day of the 2021 Catamount Classic, UNCG track closed out the weekend with some personal bests in the 800m, running on the same track that will host this year's SoCon Outdoor Championship meet.
Freshman
Shay Soukup tallied a career best with her time of 2:18.58, crossing the finish line in sixth. On the men's side,
Nicholas Thoma registered his fastest 800m, finishing third overall with a time of 1:55.53. His time is just four-tenths of a second shy of the fastest Spartan 800m this year, which was ran by his brother Joe at the HPU VertKlasse earlier this season.
Weston Clayton came in just a few spots behind his teammate, turning in a time of 1:56.70 to take sixth in the field.
The Spartans have two weeks until the start of the postseason, when the UNCG roster will return to the Catamount Athletic Complex on May 1st & 2nd to race in the 2021 SoCon Outdoor Championship.
