GREENSBORO, N.C. – It was a viral moment.
Kobe Langley, aided by rocket boosters, rose into the stratosphere to snatch
Kaleb Hunter's perfectly placed pass with one hand and slam it with authority.
The Spartan bench went wild. Langley hustled back on defense after he returned to earth. It was business as usual for the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team. The fantastic flush was the centerpiece of a 68-49 victory over Western Carolina at the Ramsey Center Monday night.
A few hours later as the Spartans as the bus navigated foggy weather and where voices were murmuring while returning to campus, Langley's dunk made the rounds and was part of the popular ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 nightly plays. Langley's alley-oop finish was No. 3.
You heard from head coach
Mike Jones and Hunter following the game. Now, it's time to hear from Langley in his own words.
"When Kaleb got the steal, I was the only one back and Kaleb threw the most out of reach pass in my eyes, but somehow I caught it and when I caught it, I just knew I was going to dunk it. It felt amazing but during the game I was so locked in I didn't realize how impressive the dunk was until I got to the bench and my teammates were telling me how great of a dunk it was.
"Buck and Key were the first ones to tell me that dunk was sports center top 10 before it was on T.V. and I was just like shrugging off like nah y'all playing but funny enough around 1am when we were getting off the bus and the coaches told me that my dunk was on SportsCenter Top 10, I didn't really pay it any mind because it was late and I was tired and sleepy.
"So, when I woke up, my dad sent me the video actually on SportsCenter Top 10 and it was number three. At that point I was shocked and excited because I've never been on SportsCenter before. That's what you dream about when you little and for it to actually come true It meant a lot and it's only the beginning."
