GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to the Elon Phoenix, 13-6, on Sunday afternoon at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
UNCG got behind early with Elon taking a 6-0 lead through the first two innings. The Spartans got on the board in the bottom of the third scoring four runs.
Pres Cavenaugh and
Hogan Windish got on base with back-to-back walks. A single from
Greg Hardison would bring Cavenaugh across the plate.
The Spartan's second run came off a double down the left-field line from
Mitchell Smith to score Windish and Hardison.
Ethan McKay singled to the shortstop, who hesitated on the throw, to score Smith and cut the Phoenix's lead to two.
Kennedy Jones singled to the second baseman and then stole second to put himself in scoring position. Windish doubled to right-center to bring Jones home and then scored on a single from Hardison.
The Spartans sent eight pitchers to the mound.
Price King led the way with 3.0 innings pitched. He allowed three hits and struck out three.
Austin Parsley earned the start on the mound and struck out four batters in 1.2 IP.

Wesley Buck, and
KJ Wells saw action on the mound as well. Wolf and Wells each struck out one.
