Spartans Turn Focus to Campbell after Elon Series

Box Score ELON, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will turn their focus to the Campbell Camels after a three-game series against the Elon Phoenix this past weekend.
 
Elon beat the Spartans 10-4 on Monday to complete the series sweep. Dosi Jonas led the Spartans with two home runs and Pres Cavenaugh hit one in today's contest. UNCG's fourth run came from Greg Hardison who scored on a single from Ethan McKay.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Hardison went 3-for-4 in the game and scored one run.
  • Jonas hit his first two home runs as a Spartan.
  • Both were solo shots, one to left-center and the other to right-center.
  • Hunter Shuey earned his third start of the year and struck out three.
  • Sam Murchison, Jake Wolf, Camden Noble, Zack Mallia, and Ryan Rouse pitched an inning for UNCG.
  • Noble struck out two.
The Spartans will welcome the Campbell Camels tomorrow for a 4 p.m. game in UNCG Baseball Stadium.
 
SCOUTING THE CAMELS
  • Campbell is coming off a two-game series split with Liberty. The Camels took the first game, 7-0, but dropped the second 5-3.
  • They enter the contest with a 7-8 overall record with notable wins against, then, No. 8 N.C. State at the beginning of the month.
  • Zach Neto leads the Camels with a .400 batting average with 20 hits on 50 plate appearances and 12 RBIs.
  • He also leads the team with three home runs, six doubles, and is tied with one triple with Drake Pierson.
  • Pierson and Zach Williams have a perfect stolen base percentage. Pierson is 4-for-4 while Williams is 2-for-2.
  • Thomas Harrington has pitched 27.0 innings and struck out 40 batters. He has an ERA of 0.67.
  • He has only allowed two runs and walked two in his four appearances.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Spartans lead the all-time series, 7-5.
  • Campbell took the last meeting with a final score of 7-4 in April of 2019. 
  • Hogan Windish had one RBI.
UPCOMING
After the Camels, UNCG will have its longest road trip of the season as they head to the Sunshine State for a three-game series against the Central Florida Knights this Friday-Sunday.
