GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field teams will begin the outdoor portion of the schedule this weekend as they compete at the 49er Classic, hosted by Charlotte.
The meet will be held at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center from Thursday, March 17 to Saturday, March 19. The Spartans will compete on Friday and Saturday.
Meet/Facility History
- UNCG will be among 25 teams competing at the 49er Classic.
- The Spartans last competed at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on March 20, 2021 and have competed in the meet since 2016, with the exception of 2020.
- Dylan Christopher and Joe Thoma set personal bests at the classic in the 1500m and 800m runs, respectively.

Last Time Out
- The Spartans wrapped up the outdoor season at the 2022 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.
- Three Spartans were named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team, including Serena Henderson, Bella Manfre, and Colin Keck.
- Manfre placed 11th in the mile with a time of 5:32.62.
- Henderson finished 12th in the mile with a time of 5:40.73.
- Keck earned 15th in the mile with a time of 4:29.68.
- Garcia earned the Spartans points on the women's side after qualifying for finals in the mile and then placing seventh overall with a time of 5:07.73.
- Junior Michael Zapherson, who competed in the 5000-meter run, led the way for the Blue & Gold placing seventh with a career-best time of 14:46.12.
- Five Spartans ran personal bests on day one of the championships.
