Track & Field Competes at Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field teams opened their indoor track season with the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
On the women's side, three Spartans saw personal bests. Naomi Pridgen clocked in a career-best time of 9.05 in the 60-meter run. Junior Madison McMasters posted a career-best time in the 200-meter run, finishing the race in 31.15. Classmate Laila Burk ran 1:05.97 in the 200-meter run for her personal best.
 
Vicky Sosa, running the mile for the first time in her career, finished 16th out of 39 with a time of 5:22.0.
 
Kiarrah Williams ran her collegiate debut in the 60-meter run, while Peyton Wilson ran in the 200-meter run for her first-collegiate race.  
 
MEN'S RESULTS
Logan Thanos, Glodi Mvovi, JT Brownlee, Samuel Barnard, Judah Weesner, and Khalid Abdullahi all ran in their collegiate races.
 
Luke Ward was one of four Spartans to earn a top-10 finish. Ward placed seventh out of 39 competitors in the mile run clocking in a time of 4:26.40. Evan Pena was the second Spartan, placing 10th overall with a time of 4:31.81.
 
Abdullahi had the best finish for UNCG, placing third out of 22 competitors in the 800-meter run. The freshman posted a time of 2:01.52 and finished first in his heat. Sophomore Lane Prochaska took home eighth in the 800-meter event clocking in a time of 2:02.34.
 
Juniors Ethan Long and Colin Keck finished 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 3000-meter run out of 39 competitors. Long clocked in a time of 8:55.91, while Keck ran the event in 9:00.29.
 
In the 400-meter run, junior Andrew Hamilton placed 18th out of 57 competitors with his time of 52.75. He took first in his heat.

Up Next
UNCG will conclude its December schedule with the JDL Early Bird Invitational tomorrow, Sunday, December 3 before heading to break. Track events will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Spartans will return to competition on January 12 and 13.
