CARY, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's cross country teams kicked off their schedule with the adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Field on Friday evening.
The Spartan men finished ninth out of 14 teams totaling 238 points in the six-kilometer race. Liberty took home the team title for the men with 46 points. The Spartan women placed 10
th overall with 314 points in their five-kilometer run, while host NC State won the team title with 34 points.
MEN
Senior
Colin Keck paced the way for the men crossing the finish line with a time of 18:54.7 placing 44
th out of 168 competitors. Sophomore
Khalid Abdullahi was the next Blue & Gold across the finish line, clocking in a time of 19:14.0 and finishing in 58
th place.
Freshman
Logan Ruffner, in his first-collegiate race, took home 69
th place with a time of 19:22.2. Senior
Ethan Long wasn't far behind, earning 73
rd place with a time of 19:24.6. Junior
Luke Ward (77
th place) and freshman
Pierson Guerrant (80
th place), in his first collegiate race, clocked in times of 19:29.6 and 19:31.2, respectively.
Sophomores
Tyler Niloff and
James Harrelson both competed in their first race with the Blue & Gold.
WOMEN
Junior
Vicky Sosa led the way for the Spartans finishing in 64
th place out of 163 competitors. Sosa clocked in a time of 18:45.5. Sophomore
Tenley Douglass was the next across the finish line for the Blue & Gold, placing 89
th overall with a time of 19:23.0.
Senior
Camille Carlson ran the race with a time of 19:30.9 finishing in 96
th place. Freshman
Lillian Douglass, in her first collegiate race, was the fourth Spartan to cross the finish line, placing 108
th overall with a time of 19:54.7.
Freshmen
Dahlia Lind,
Hailey Meyers, and
Blair Taylor both competed in their first-collegiate race.
