Men’s Basketball to Face Three Teams in Jacksonville, Florida

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team continues its six-game road slate with three games in Florida.

The first two, against Youngstown State (Nov. 23 – 6:00 p.m.) and Delaware (Nov. 25 – 2:00 p.m.) will be played as part of the 2025 Jacksonville Classic. The third game against Miami (Ohio) University on Nov. 26 at 2:00 p.m. will be a neutral site game. All three games will be played at Edward Waters College.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
  • On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
  • This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
  • This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.  
  • The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.  
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG and Queens met for just the fourth time in program history, the first since 1991, on Thursday, Nov. 20 in Charlotte at Curry Arena.
  • The Royals took the win, 101-94.
  • Six Spartans scored double-figures, with KJ Younger leading the game with 22 points and Justin Neely following closely behind with 19 points.
  • Donald Whitehead Jr. chipped in 14 points, while Lilian Marville and Domas Kauzonas notched 11 points apiece.
  • Valentino Pinedo rounded out the Spartans double-figure scorers with 10 points.
  • UNCG bested Queens in points off turnovers (5-2), second chance points (14-12) and points in the paint (46-36).
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • The 2025-26 roster features three returners and 12 newcomers.
  • Six of the 15 student-athletes are international, and this is the biggest international class under fifth-year Head Coach Mike Jones.
  • UNCG was picked to finish fifth in The 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches' Poll with 43 votes.  
  • The Spartans will play 10 games in Bodford Arena and four games in the First Horizon Coliseum this season.
  • Among the SoCon, Neely is leading the league in rebounds (55), defensive rebounds per game (8.20) and rebounds per game (11.0). He is second in double-doubles (2) and minutes per game (32:54) and third in field goal percentage (59.5)
  • Neely is pacing the team with a double-double, averaging 14.2 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. He is also averaging 3.6 assists per game to sit atop the team.
  • Three other Spartans are averaging double-figures, including Whitehead Jr. with 13.6, Younger with 12.4 and Marville with 10.0.
  • UNCG went 20-12 overall and 13-5 in the SoCon in the 2024-25 season.
  • This was the eighth year out of nine with 20 or more wins for the Spartans.
  • The Spartans concluded the 2024-25 season ranked 14th in three-point percentage defense (30.1), 15th in field goal percentage defense (40.0), 25th in scoring defense (65.4), 26th in turnovers per game (9.9) and 32nd three-point percentage (37.2). 
  • Coach Jones achieved his third year out of four winning 20 or more games last season with the Spartans.
  • UNCG entered the 2025 SoCon Tournament as the second seed, marking the third consecutive year under Jones that the team has secured a top three seed. 
SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
  • Youngstown State concluded the 2024-25 season with a 21-13 overall record and a 13-7 mark in the Horizon League.
  • The Penguins, who made their first title-game appearance since joining the Horizon League, lost to top-seeded Robert Morris, 89-78.
  • Youngstown State was voted to finish third in the 2025-26 Under Armour Horizon League Men's Basketball Preseason Poll, earning two first-place votes.
  • Cris Carroll was voted to the Preseason All-League First Team.
  • Carroll is leading the team with 14.2 points per game, while Vlad Salaridze is second with 13.0 points per game.
  • Carroll and Drew King are both averaging 4.6 rebounds per game.
  • Drew is pacing the team with 4.6 assists per game.
  • The Penguins have the edge over their opponents in field goal percentage (47.4-46.7), three-point percentage (37.2-31.8) and free throw percentage (76.0-75.8).
  • Youngstown State is nationally ranked 21st in bench points per game (39.00) and 33rd in three pointers per game (11.0).
SCOUTING DELAWARE
  • Delaware concluded the 2024-25 season 16-20 overall and 5-13 in the CAA. This will be the Blue Hen's first season in Conference USA (CUSA).
  • The Blue Hens were picked to finish 11th out of 12 in the 2025-26 CUSA Men's Basketball Preseason Poll.
  • Cavan Reilly was voted to the 2025-26 CUSA Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • Justyn Fernandez is pacing the team with 18.0 points per game.
  • Four others are averaging double-figures, including Christian Bell (15.5), Macon Emory (14.8) and Tyler Houser (12.2).
  • Emory leads the team and conference with 10.5 rebounds per game.
  • Bliss is averaging 6.0 assists per game to pace the Blue Hens.
  • Opponents have the edge over Delaware in points per game (76.0-70.2), three-point percentage (35.8-35.4) and free throw percentage (81.0-72.3).
SCOUTING MIAMI (OHIO)
  • Miami University concluded the 2024-25 season with a 25-9 overall record and 14-4 Mid-American Conference (MAC) mark.
  • The RedHawks were voted to finish second in the 2025-26 MAC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll and received two first-place votes.
  • Peter Suder was voted to the 2025-26 Men's Basketball Preseason All-MAC First Team, while Eian Elmer earned Second Team recognition.
  • Five RedHawks are averaging double-figures with Brant Byers leading the charge with 15.0 points per game.
  • Evan Ipsaro is averaging 12.8, Almar Atlason is averaging 11.2, Suder is averaging 11.0 and Antwone Woolfolk is averaging 10.7 points per game.
  • Woolfolk leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game.
  • Miami is nationally ranked seventh and leading the conference with a 63.0 effective field goal percentage.
  • The RedHawks' 53.0 field goal percentage is 16th in the nation and leads the MAC.
  • Their 43.9 three-point percentage is eighth in the nation, while their 28.8 scoring margin is 22nd in Division I programs.
