SoCon Announces Men's Basketball Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team saw graduate student
Justin Neely named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
Neely assisted the Spartans to a 1-1 week, including a 68-63 come-from-behind victory over Youngstown State that the Blue & Gold erased a 21-point deficit on Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida, during the 2025 Jacksonville Classic.
The Miami Beach, Florida, native averaged a double-double this past week with 17.5 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game. He recorded his third double-double of the season and 10
th of his career this week against the Penguins. This week, he shot 10-for-17 from field goal range for 58.8 percent and 14-for-17 from the charity stripe for 82.4 percent. Neely chipped in three steals, one block and five assists.
Neely was second of the team with 19 points and led the game with eight rebounds against Queens. He led the team with 16 points and a game-and career-high 16 rebounds against Youngstown State.
Among the SoCon, Neely is leading the league in rebounds, defensive rebounds per game and rebounds per game. His 9.33 defensive rebounds per game are second in the nation, his 71 total rebounds and 11.8 rebounds per game are both seventh in the nation.
He is also 13
th in the nation and second in the SoCon with three double-doubles. His is averaging 33:20 minutes per game which is second in the SoCon and his 26 free throws this season are third in the league.
