All regular season baseball home games are free admission. The concessions at UNCG Baseball Stadium are now open. Bringing in outside food is not permitted and pets are not allowed into the stadium.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG dropped its two midweek games at UNCG Baseball Stadium to NC State, 10-0, and Elon, 12-2, on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
- The Spartans totaled seven hits in each midweek contest.
- Senior Trey Truitt led the Spartans with three hits between the two games. On Wednesday against Elon, he posted two hits, including a double, and scored twice.
- Left-handed pitcher Noah Chapman (1-1) and right-hander Hunter Shuey (0-1) came down with the losses as the Spartans' starting arms on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
- In relief, right-handed pitcher Jake Colucci pitched three scoreless innings against NC State on Tuesday.
- On Wednesday, right-hander Dylan Smith pitched four and two-thirds scoreless frames out of the bullpen.

- The Spartans own an overall record of 5-7 to begin the season.
- Prior to Wednesday's contest against Elon, UNCG faced four consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponents, amounting to eight straight games.
- The Spartans opened eight straight against ACC foes with an upset over then-No. 13 Wake Forest at home, 4-0, on Feb. 18.
- UNCG is tied for 10th in the country with two shutouts this season.
- Danny Thompson Jr. is tied 39th nationally with a pair of saves so far.
- Jay Miller leads the Spartans in total strikeouts with 23, which ranks 39th nationally.
- Miller struck out 10 batters last Saturday vs. Pitt, marking a new career-high.
- Chapman is second on the Spartans with 22 punchouts.
- Murchison leads UNCG in wins with a 2-1 record, which stands tied for 43rd in NCAA Division I.
- Last Sunday against Pitt, the Spartans set a new season-high for runs (13) and hits (12).
- Freshman Parker Wight is leading the Spartans offensively through 12 games. He is batting .293 (12-for-41) with two doubles, three RBI, six runs and a team-leading 10 walks.
- Senior outfielder Zachary Walsh leads the team with two home runs.
- Junior Branton Jernigan leads the Spartans with six RBI. He hit a go-ahead three-run home run last Sunday during the fourth inning to help UNCG eventually beat Pitt, 13-11. He was awarded the Terminix Pest Performance of the Week as a result on Tuesday morning.
- The Spartans are coming off a historic season where they posted an overall record of 33-21, marking their 19th 30-win campaign in the program's 34-season history.
- UNCG captured its third Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular Season Championship behind a conference record of 15-6 in 2024.
- Entering the SoCon Tournament as the top seed for the first time since 2018, UNCG ended the 2024 campaign with losses to Wofford, 5-2, and ETSU, 10-7, at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
- UNCG led the SoCon a season ago in ERA (5.19), fewest runs allowed (297) and lowest opponent batting average (.267).
- The Spartans were voted to finish first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UNCG collected three first-place votes and 40 points to finish on top of the SoCon's Preseason Poll. Samford was a close second, receiving three first-place votes and 38 points.
- Senior right-handed pitcher Rob Ready was named one of two SoCon Preseason Pitchers of the Year by the league. The other was Michael Harpster of ETSU.
- In addition, a total of six Spartans were recognized on Preseason All-SoCon Teams. They were Rob Ready (SP), Luke Holland (OF), Truitt (DH) and Aycock (RP), who were named to the first team, while Shuey (SP) and Thompson Jr. (RP) rounded out the list on the second team.
- Chapman is also back after being named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team in 2024.
- The Spartans' baseball roster is made up of 38 student-athletes, including 23 returners, eight newcomers and seven transfers.
- Head Coach Cody Ellis is in his second year at the helm of the UNCG baseball program after leading the Spartans last season, who were projected to finish sixth in the conference, to a regular season championship.
- He was named the 2024 SoCon Coach of the Year and had an interim tag removed following the season on May 28.
- Ellis has been at UNCG since he was first hired as assistant coach in the fall of 2022, leading the charge in recruiting and as the outfield coach before being promoted to interim head coach in January 2024 and head coach in May 2024.
SCOUTING RADFORD
- Radford owns an overall record of 5-6 and is coming off a 22-9 loss to No. 2 Tennessee on the road last Tuesday night.
- The Highlanders held a 3-2 lead after the first inning, a 4-2 edge after two frames and tied the game at 9-9 in the fifth before the power of Tennessee became just too much as the Vols piled on 11 runs in the seventh to escape with the 22-9 win.
- Prior to facing the Volunteers, the Highlanders swept Mercyhurst at home last weekend, winning 12-5, 9-1 and 14-2 at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium in Radford, Virginia.
- Seniors Hunter Keen and Jhonkeanu Perez are leading the Highlanders offensively, batting .378 (17-for-45) each so far while competing in all 11 of Radford's games.
- Senior outfielder Tyler Kehoe leads Radford with three home runs and 13 RBI while batting .319 (15-for-47).
- Sophomore right-handed pitchers Raymond Ladd and Andrew Steinhaus lead the Highlanders with 13 innings pitched each. Ladd owns a 4.85 ERA while Steinhaus has a 5.54 ERA. They own .245 and .294 opponent batting averages, respectively, and have combined for 27 strikeouts.
- Radford was voted to finish eighth with one first-place vote in the 2025 Big South Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The Highlanders finished the 2024 campaign 16-34 overall with a 7-16 mark in the Big South to finish last out of the nine teams.
- Head Coach Alex Guerra, a former Highlander and Radford alum, is in his third season leading the program.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HIGHLANDERS
The Spartans are 10-9 all-time against Radford. UNCG won last season's series two games to one in Greensboro from April 19-20.
After falling 6-4 in the series opener, UNCG prevailed by final scores of 9-6 and 17-1 (seven innings) during a doubleheader to close out the series last season.
