SoCon Announces Weekly Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team saw junior Brooklyn Shroyer named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Pitcher of the Week, announced on Monday.
 
This is the second weekly award for the Spartans this season, as Shroyer received the honor on Feb. 23.

Shroyer paced the Spartans in the circle with a 1-1 record this week, as they played six games.
 
In two appearances and two starts, Shroyer posted a 0.54 ERA while tossing two complete games with 13.0 innings thrown. She gave up five hits, three runs, one earned run, four walks and struck out 13 batters. She kept batters to a .109 batting average.
 
She first had five strikeouts against UNCW in a 3-0 loss and then had eight in a 2-0 victory over Army West Point. With her eight strikeouts, she surpassed 500 career strikeouts and currently has 503 total. Ninety of them have been at UNCG, while 413 are from her two years with Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
Against the Black Knights, Shroyer and the Spartans were able to fend them off in the top of the seventh to hold onto the 2-0 victory, their eighth shutout of the season. The junior pitcher allowed one hit, walked two batters and struck out eight in her eighth win and fifth shutout of the season.

Among the SoCon, Shroyer is leading the conference in hits allowed per seven innings (4.05), innings pitched (76.0), pitching appearances (16), saves (1), shutouts (5), strikeouts (90) and victories (8).  

She is nationally ranked in complete games (2^nd/6), shutouts (2^nd/5), innings pitched (11^th/76.0), strikeouts (11^th/90), hits allowed per seven innings (22^nd/4.05), victories (25^th/8), strikeouts per seven innings (37^th/8.3), pitching appearances (40^th/16), WHIP (41^st/0.96), ERA (50^th/1.75) and games started (56^th/10).
