GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will continue The Southern Conference (SoCon) slate by hosting the Mercer Bears at UNCG Baseball Stadium for a three-game series. The series will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with game two starting on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The final game will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.    
   

 LAST TIME OUT         

• The Spartans were swept in the series against the Terriers the previous weekend with UNCG falling in game three against Wofford, 6-3.  

• Brantley Truitt led the way for UNCG with five hits in the series.  

• Cannon Lee made his second collegiate start in game three of the series.  

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS            

• The Spartans enter the series 12-17 overall and 1-5 in SoCon action.         

• UNCG is nationally ranked in: triples (8th/11), triples per game (12th/ 0.38), sacrifice flies (13th/19) and stolen bases (64th/ 51).    

• Jacob Budzik leads the team and is ranked 60th in the nation in doubles with 10. He also ranks first in the SoCon in triples with three.      

• Jake Mueller leads the team in hits and RBIs, with 37 and 20, respectively.     

• Noah Chapman is one of the premier arms in the SoCon. He leads the team and the conference in strikeouts with 41.    

• Out of the bullpen, Ayden West has been dominant with no runs allowed in the past six appearances.    

• The Spartans were voted to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.                        

• UNCG concluded the 2025 season with a 21-33 overall record and went 9-12 in SoCon play.             

• Head Coach Cody Ellis is in his third season at the helm of the Spartans, guiding them to a 65-71 record during his time.             

SCOUTING THE BEARS  

• Mercer enters Greensboro with a 22-7 overall record and are 2-1 in conference play.  

• Most recently, the Bears defeated in-state rival Kennesaw State, 14-4, on Tuesday. Four different Mercer batters homered in the contest.  

• Mercer ranks nationally in: home runs (5th /57), on base percentage (5th/.487), slugging percentage (8th/.569), hits (14th/320) and doubles (36th/ 60).  

• The offense is led by Chris Kratz who is batting .411. He leads the SoCon in hits with 46 and has eight home runs on the season.   

• The pitching staff is led by ace Garrett Lambert, who boasts a 4.85 ERA in seven starts.  

• Head Coach Craig Gibson enters his 23rd season as head of the program with a 750-511 record.       

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BEARS 
Mercer holds the 20-16 advantage over UNCG in the series. Last season, the Bears swept UNCG in the regular season.
