Baseball Rematches Campbell At Home

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will host in-state rival Campbell at UNCG Baseball Stadium on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. This will be the second meeting this season between the two squad with the Spartans taking the 11-4 victory on Tuesday, April 7, at Jim Perry Stadium.

   LAST TIME OUT           

  • The Spartans lost the series versus Northern Kentucky this past weekend. UNCG took game two, 17-6, but lost games one and three. 

  • Tanner Berry hit .357 with a 571 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage with five runs, five hits, one double, one triple and seven RBIs.  

  • Jake Colucci led the way for the pitching staff last week with a 1-0 record in 7.1 innings pitched.    
     

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS                 

  • The Spartans enter the series 15-21 overall and 2-7 in conference play.            

  • UNCG is nationally ranked in: triples (8th/13), triples per game (11th/ 0.36) and sacrifice flies (28th/21).    

  • Jacob Budzik leads the team and is ranked 16th in the nation in doubles with 15. He also ranks first in the SoCon in triples with three.         

  • Jake Mueller leads the team in hits and RBIs, with 46 and 27, respectively.        

  • Noah Chapman is one of the premier arms in The Southern Conference (SoCon). He leads the team and the conference in strikeouts with 53.       

  • The Spartans were voted to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.                           

  • UNCG concluded the 2025 season with a 21-33 overall record and went 9-12 in SoCon play.                

  • Head Coach Cody Ellis is in his third season at the helm of the Spartans, guiding them to a 69-75 record during his time.        
     

SCOUTING THE CAMELS    

  • Campbell enters the game with a 23-12 overall record and a 16-2 in the CAA.    

  • Most recently, the Camels took two of three games against UNCW in this past weekend series.  

  • Campbell ranks nationally in: sacrifice flies (11th/23), stolen bases (14th /95), strikeout-to-walk ratio (23rd/ 2.59), strikeouts per nine (38th/10.0) and triples (59th/9).  

  • Campbell's Joe Simpson is ninth in the nation in stolen bases with 25 this season.   

  • The offense is led by duo Jonah Oster and Joey Morton, who each have over 30 RBIs this year.   

  • The pitching staff is led by David Rossow, who has seven victories on the season and a 3.01 ERA.  

  • Head Coach Chris Marx continues his second season with a 48-43 record.

Campbell leads the series 8-7 with UNCG winning the last meeting between the two 11-4 at Campbell last Tuesday.
