GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will host The Southern Conference (SoCon) rival Samford at UNCG Baseball Stadium starting on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Game two will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday then will wrap up with game three at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.   

 LAST TIME OUT            

• The Spartans most recently fell to in-state opponent Campbell, 11-8, at UNCG Baseball Stadium on Tuesday night.   

• Brantley Truitt went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs scored and two RBIs driven in the contest.    

• Luke Jenkins mashed his third home run of the season as he drove in two RBIs in the contest with two runs scored.  
    

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS               

• The Spartans enter the series 15-22 overall, 2-7 in the SoCon and 7-10 at home.            

• UNCG is nationally ranked in: triples (4th/15), triples per game (6th/ 0.41) and sacrifice flies (31st/21).     

• Jacob Budzik leads the team, is second in the conference and is ranked 21st in the nation in doubles with 15. He also ranks tied for first in the SoCon in triples with three.         

• Jake Mueller leads the team in hits and RBIs, with 47 and 27, respectively.        

• Freshman Tanner Berry has been hitting .415 with 34 hits and 24 RBIs driven in since entering the lineup against Pittsburgh on Feb. 28.  

• Noah Chapman is one of the premier arms in the SoCon. He leads the team and is tied for first in the SoCon in strikeouts with 50.       

• Out of the bullpen, Ayden West has been dominant with 2.14 ERA in 16 appearances.    

• The Spartans were voted to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.                           

• UNCG concluded the 2025 season with a 21-33 overall record and went 9-12 in SoCon play.                

• Head Coach Cody Ellis is in his third season at the helm of the Spartans, guiding them to a 69-76 record during his time.                

             
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS  

• Samford enters the weekend series with a 17-18 overall record and is -4 in conference play.     

• The Bulldogs most recently fell 11-1 to Mississippi on Tuesday.   

• Samford ranks nationally in: fielding percentage (12th/ .982), home runs per game (40th/ 1.46), home runs (47th/51) and shutouts (50th/2). 

• Luke Boykin is the most dangerous bat in the Samford lineup with 10 dingers on the season and 34 RBIs.  

• The pitching staff is led by senior Joesph Lee with nine starts, 42.2 innings pitched, a 4.01 ERA and 48 strikeouts.  

• Head Coach Tony David continues his fifth season at the helm of the program with a 148-121 record.
