GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team travels to The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe The Citadel at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park starting on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Game two will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday then will wrap up with game three at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.    

 LAST TIME OUT             

• The Spartans most recently fell to in-state opponent Wake Forest, 14-2, at David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday night.    

• Jacob Dilley drove in the only runs with his three run shot in the top of the sixth inning. 

• Jake Mueller extended his on-base streak to 26 in the contest.   
     

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS                

• The Spartans enter the series 15-26 overall, 2-10 in the SoCon and 7-11 on away trips.             

• UNCG is nationally ranked in: triples (8th/15), triples per game (10th/ 0.37) and sacrifice flies (51st/21).      

• Jacob Budzik leads the team, is second in the conference and is ranked 32nd in the nation in doubles with 15. He also ranks tied for third in the SoCon in triples with three.          

• Mueller leads the team in hits and RBIs, with 47 and 27, respectively.        

• Dilley paces the team in home runs with six this season.   

• Freshman Tanner Berry has been hitting .372 with 35 hits, 25 RBIs and seven doubles since entering the lineup against Pittsburgh on Feb. 28.   

• Noah Chapman is one of the premier arms in the SoCon. He leads the team and is fourth in the SoCon in strikeouts with 56.        

• Out of the bullpen, Ayden West has been dominant with 2.60 ERA in 19 appearances with 21 strikeouts. 

• The Spartans were voted to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.                            

• UNCG concluded the 2025 season with a 21-33 overall record and went 9-12 in SoCon play.                 

• Head Coach Cody Ellis is in his third season at the helm of the Spartans, guiding them to a 69-80 record during his time.                 

              
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS   

• The Citadel enters the weekend series with a 19-21 overall record and is 4-8 in conference play.      

• The Bulldogs most recently defeated Georgia Southern,10-3, tallying 14 hits with three home runs in the contest. 

• The Citadel ranks nationally in: sacrifice bunts (1st/ 49), stolen bases (42nd/ 82), stolen bases per game (44th/2.03) and hit by pitches (44th/74).  

• Will Holmes is the Bulldogs' top pitcher, starting in 10 games this season with a 2-4 record and a 5.41 ERA.  

• Zach Hunt is the most dangerous bat in the lineup, mashing 32 RBIs this season with eight home runs.  

• Jayden Williams is the speed demon on the base paths with 15 stolen bags on the year.  

• Head Coach Russell Tripplett continues his second season at the helm of the program with a 50-47 record.           

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BULLDOGS    
The Spartans lead the series 49-40 over the Bulldogs. The Citadel took the last series matchup between the two, taking two-of-three from the Spartans in 2025.
