GREENSBORO, NC – Ohio pounded out 11 hits in a 7-3 win over UNC Greensboro in a non-league baseball game this afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium. The win snaps an 11-game Bobcat losing streak to the Spartans.

Ohio (3-5) broke open a 3-3 affair with two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Bobcats scored both their runs in the seventh with two outs when Phil Sabatini doubled to right field and came around to score on a single through the right side of the diamond by Brian Colopy. Anthony Gressick followed with a single to left that brought in Colopy from second base to make it 5-3.

UNCG (6-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning on a two-run single up the middle by senior first baseman Justin Crist. Ohio cut its deficit in half on a solo homer by Willie Walker in the second inning. The visitors would take a 3-2 lead with two more runs in the fourth.

Crist tied the game, 3-3, on a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He finished the day 1-for-3 with three RBI. Senior third baseman Jeremy Roulin, freshman second baseman Greg Feltes and junior designated hitter Chris Mason, the 1-2-3 hitters in the Spartan lineup, each had a single and a run scored.

Junior left-hander Ryan Falcon pitched six strong innings for UNCG. He scattered six hits, gave up three runs and stuck out a career-high nine batters. Junior Patrick Currin (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) in 1.0 inning of work.

Rob Harmon (2-0) got the win for Ohio, allowing five hits, three runs and stuck out five batters. Derek Witt picked up his first save of the year, allowing just one hit over 3.0 innings of work.

The Bobcats and Spartans will meet tomorrow at 1 pm in the rubber-game of three-game weekend series.
