-- The Spartans took all three of the games in that 2017 series by an average run differential of eight
Five Facts To Know
-- Only Brian Klein (9) of Texas A&M has more doubles than Greg Hardison this year (8), who has opened the season on an 11-game hitting streak and is currently slashing .354/.426/.521
-- The Spartans have delivered walk-off wins in each of the past two weekends; Pres Cavenaugh provided the game-winning knock during UNCG's first-ever no-hitter against Fairfield (2/22), and Spencer Smith tallied the game-winner during the Spartans' longest game in program history, in the 15th inning against App State (3/1)
-- Despite making just five appearances on the year, Smith is tied for a team-lead with seven RBI. The designated hitter is currently hitting .600 with runners in scoring position, and launched his first home run in a Spartan uniform this past Tuesday at No. 25 North Carolina
-- UNCG's 3.06 ERA currently ranks second in the Southern Conference, while right-hander Austin Parsley's 3.00 H/9 ranks first in the SoCon and 14th in the nation. The junior has given up just two hits and a single run over his past four appearances (12.2 IP)
-- The Spartans had 26 players earn time against the No. 25 Tar Heels on Tuesday, while right-handed pitcher Trey Deutsch, infielders Grant Jarman and Tom Grose and outfielder Hunter Hutchens all made their debuts in a UNCG uniform. Junior right-hander Brandon Stephens also took his first collegiate AB during the ninth inning of that contest
The Shore Hawks
-- Junior outfielder Brian Cordell leads the MEAC with a .558 on base percentage, and is drawing a conference-best 1.10 walks per contest
-- The Shore Hawks delivered back-to-back shutout performances in their doubleheader with Mount St. Mary's this past Friday, holding the Mountaineers to just nine hits over those two games
