-- The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a Big South series loss to USC Upstate this past weekend, and were preparing for a Tuesday night matchup against Winthrop at the publication of this article. GWU's only other Wednesday contest this year was against another SoCon opponent, just last week, where Western Carolina emerged victorious in a 12-2 final
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
-- Outfielder Corey Rosier is currently on a four-game hitting streak, collecting a pair of knocks in each of his three appearances against Mercer to finish 6-for-12 at the plate. Rosier also hit a pair of homers against the Bears' pitching staff to slug 1.000 for the weekend, while his eight long balls on the year now lead the Spartan roster
-- Infielder Hogan Windish has touched first in each of his last six appearances, registering a .560 OBP during that time frame. Of the 14 times he's reached first over the past two weeks, four of those have come courtesy of a hit by pitch, giving him a total of 11 on the season, the most in the SoCon and the 18th-most in Division I baseball
-- Right hander Austin Parsley has surrendered just four walks over his 31.1 IP this year while striking out 31 batters. His 1.15 BB/9 average is second in the SoCon and ranks 24th in the nation, while his 7.75 K/BB ratio is also runner-up in the conference and 30th in all of Division I baseball
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
-- Senior Cam Pearcey has a team-best slashline of .316/.379/.579, while his four homers and 15 RBI are runner-up on the Bulldogs' roster. He's 10 for 11 when stealing bases this year as well, the most stolen bags in the Big South
-- Junior lefty Kyle Skidmore has been one of GWU's best hurlers out of the pen this year, boasting a 1.54 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 11 appearances. The southpaw has given up just two earned runs on the year, and just one in his seven games against Big South opponents
SERIES HISTORY
-- This is just the third time that UNCG and Gardner-Webb have met, with each team taking a win and a loss to the other previously
-- The Spartans played those two games in a 2015 home-and-away series, playing on back-to-back nights to close out the regular season. UNCG beat the Bulldogs 6-2 in Greensboro on Thursday night, before succumbing to a 4-3 final the following evening
