LOUISVILLE, KY. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's cross country teams prepare for the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships that will take place on Friday, November 11 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky, hosted by the University of Kentucky.
 
RACE INFORMATION
Women's & Men's Course Maps
The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 11:00 a.m.
There will be 39 women's teams represented.  
Spartans' Lineup: Laila Burk, Camille Carlson, Bella Manfre, Chandler McCaslin, Reagan O'Quinn, Jenna Reiter, Victoria Sosa, Shay Soukup
 
The men's 10-kilometer race will begin at noon.
There will be 36 men's teams represented.
Spartans' Lineup: Jack Burgener, Dylan Christopher, Ethan Long, Evan Pena, Mason Rudel, Zachary Taylor, Joe Thoma, Luke Ward
 
ABOUT THE WOMEN
  • Last year at Regionals, the women took home 22nd out of 31 teams.
  • This was the Spartans' best finish since 2013, when the team posted a seventh-place finish.
  • In her first NCAA appearance, Reiter crossed the finish line first with an 86th-place mark, clocking in a time of 22:10.7.
  • Shay Soukup placed 115th with a career-best time of 22:38.8, also in her first NCAA appearance.
  • The Spartans have earned two top-10 marks as well as an 11th place finish.
  • UNCG finished eighth overall at the Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships.
ABOUT THE MEN
  • Last year at Regionals, the men finished 20th out of 30 teams.
  • This was the Spartans' best finish since 2013, when the team posted an 11th-place mark.
  • Christopher was the second Spartan to cross the finish line placing 118th out of 222 competitors, running a career-best time of 32:03.3.
  • This season, the men have earned three top-five finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the SoCon Championships.
  • Thoma had an impressive day with a top-five finish and a career-best time of 24:14.4, placing third overall and earning an All-SoCon first team recognition. 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Spartans sent eight individuals to the Hokie Open last Friday.
  •  Freshman Lane Prochaska placed 26th out of 35 competitors with a time of 21:06.5.
  • Classmate Andrew Hamilton finished 28th in the race with a time of 21:53.5 in his first-collegiate race.
  • On the women's side, Chandler McCaslin finished 17th out of 27 competitors with a time of 16:33.0.
  • Sophomores Bella Manfre and Serena Henderson followed after taking 18th and 19th, respectively.
UP NEXT
The top two teams and the first four finishers in the race not associated with those two teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, held November 19 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
