GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field teams begin their postseason schedule as they compete at the 2022 Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships from Saturday, February 26 to Sunday, February 27.
 
The meet will be held at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia. Day two of the championships will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Meet/Facility History

• This is the fifth-straight season with the indoor championship being held at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility.
• This year marks the 87th edition of the men's championship and 35th women's championship.

Last Time Out

• The Spartans competed at the JDL DMR Invitational at the JDL FastTrack last Saturday to tune-up for the SoCon Indoor Championships.
• Seven Spartans competed in a specific event for the first time in their careers.
• Graduate student Ariana Garcia was the lone UNCG student-athlete to post a career-best time last weekend. She ran a time of 5:04.26 in the mile, finishing seventh out of 37 competitors.
• This was also the first weekend that the Spartans ran relays, where both squads finished fourth overall in the 4x400-meter relay.

Track Athlete of the Week

• Garcia was named SoCon Track Athlete of the Week posting a career-best time in the mile at the JDL DMR Invite.
• With the conversion, Garcia's time of 5:01.28 is currently 11^th overall on the SoCon indoor track & field performance list.

How the women line up

• McCaslin's 3000-meter run converted time from the Camel City Invitational of 10:19.55 is 14^th on the SoCon performance list.
• Soukup's 3000-meter run time of 10:31.47 from the Carolina Challenge is 17^th overall.

How the men line up

• Nicholas Thoma's time of 1:57.68 from the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational is 17^th in the 800-meter run on the SoCon performance list.
• Alexander's converted mile time of 4:11.74 from the Camel City Invitational is currently seventh overall.
• Zapherson's 5000-meter time of 15:01.87 from the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational is 10^th on the list.
• Knepshield's time of 15:18.22 from the same event is 16^th.
