WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field teams competed at the two-day Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track for their third meet of the season.
Eight Spartans ran a career-best in their events, including four men and four women.
Men
Senior
Colin Alexander ran a career-best time of 4:14.95 in the mile. He placed first in his heat and then eighth out of 68 competitors overall. Classmate
Dylan Christopher also crossed the finish with his best time of 4:19.78. Christopher placed first in his heat and 15
th overall, while classmate
Thomas Knepshield ran a time of 4:26.97.
Four Spartans competed in the 3000-meter run, where senior Joseph Thoma led the way with a career-best time of 8:35.23, as he finished first in his heat and 27
th overall. Junior
Michael Zapherson was the next Blue & Gold across the finish line running the race in 8:42.13.
Freshmen
Ethan Long and
Spencer Connick also competed in the 3000-meter run. Long clocked in a personal-best time of 8:52.29, taking first in his heat, while Connick ran his first-collegiate race.
Senior
Nicholas Thoma and freshman
Colin Keck each ran the 1000-meter run for the first time in their careers. Thoma clocked in a time of 2:34.45, good for sixth, as Keck finished in 2:36.05, good for ninth out of 18 competitors.
Senior
Brandon Hernandez competed in his first event of the season running the 600-meter run placing 10
th with a time of 1:28.13.
Women
Junior
Jordyn Singletary ran a career-best time of 29.05 in the 200m-sprint. This was her first meet of the season and she finished second in her heat.
Freshman
Laila Burk, and seniors
Jasmine Cullins and
Jessica Cullins ran their first races of the season, as they competed in the 400-meter run. Burk clocked a time of 1:06.86,
Jasmine Cullins ran the race in 1:10.69, and
Jessica Cullins finished in 1:11.03 for a career best.
Freshmen
Camille Carlson,
Bella Manfre, and
Serena Henderson ran their first-collegiate 1000-meter race. Carlson placed 13
th with a time of 3:15.60, while Manfre and Henderson finished 15
th and 16
th, respectively. Manfre ran the 1000m in a time of 3:19.36, as Henderson finished in 3:19.56.
In the mile, senior
Meredith Roberts ran a career-best time for the second-straight meet, this time clocking in a time of 6:02.16.
Senior
Chandler McCaslin finished first in her heat in the 3000-meter run, crossing the line with a career-best time of 10:24.86. She placed 23 out of 54 competitors. Sophomore
Shay Soukup also ran the event in 10:39.05.

UNCG will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to compete in the two-day Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational from Friday, February 11 to Saturday, February 12, hosted by Liberty University.
