Box Score DAVIDSON N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team defeated the Davidson Wildcats, 5-4, in extra innings on Friday night on Wilson Field.
GC Jarman hit his first career home run in the Spartan's win.
Jarman went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
Pres Cavenaugh's double to left-field was exactly what the Spartans needed for
Dallas Callahan to score to give UNCG the one-run lead in the top of the 11th inning and eventually to win the game.
UNCG took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to
Matt Kemp's single that scored Jarman.
Ethan McKay added a run with a solo shot over the left-center wall to grow the Spartan's lead to 2-0.
Davidson scored its first three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a one-run lead.
Mitchell Smith started the sixth inning with a single to left field. Jarman decided to join the home run club with his first career home run to right-center.
The Wildcats tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, 4-4.
Both teams were scoreless for the next three innings to force extra.
UNCG had the go-ahead run on third in the 10th inning after Smith reached on a fielder's choice and Jarman and McKay were hit back-to-back. Davidson got out of the inning with no runs scored.
Austin Parsley started on the mound and pitched 5.0 innings. He struck out four batters bringing his season total to 36.
Alex Hoppe pitched 4.1 innings. He struck out seven batters, making him the sole leader of the Spartans with 39 this season.
