GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) student-athletes enjoyed another successful semester in the classroom.
They thrived in the classroom during the Spring 2022 semester by achieving a 3.31 grade point average. It's the 16th consecutive semester in which UNCG student-athletes finished with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or better.
The women's golf program had the highest spring semester female & departmental team GPA at 3.74. The men's golf program had the highest male team GPA at 3.73.
The following programs enjoyed record-setting semesters in the classroom: men's track and field, men's golf, men's tennis, women's cross country, women's track and field, women's soccer, and women's tennis.
Overall, for the 2021-22 academic year, the Spartans had a 3.31 grade point average.
"The majority of our student-athletes that went through the 2021-2022 school year haven't been in the classroom in over two years," UNCG Associate AD for Student-Athlete Support Services & Diversity & Intercultural Engagement
Kristin Rusboldt said. "This is something that shouldn't go unnoticed, but I think it is what makes this group of student-athletes ready to tackle anything.
"The stellar GPA is how we measure our success but what you don't see are the daily academic, professional and personal successes that this group experiences because they chose be Spartans. Our student-athletes are champions in the classroom and on the field because they value the Spartan Way."
There were 163 UNCG student-athletes who earned a spot on the Athletics Director honor roll (3.0 grade point average and above for the semester), 98 who earned Dean's List recognition (3.5 grade point average and above for the semester and nothing under a B-minus), and 80 who made the Chancellor's List (3.65 cumulative grade point average and above with 30 credit hours).
