No. 4 Spartans Ready for Top-Seeded Terriers

GREENVILLE, S.C. – After a thrilling four-run bottom of the ninth comeback win against No. 8 The Citadel, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team turns its focus to the top-seeded Wofford Terriers for their second game of the 2022 Southern Conference Baseball Tournament on Friday morning.
 
The Spartans and Terriers are set for a 9 a.m. first pitch at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
--The Spartans are coming off a 7-6 walk-off win over No. 8 The Citadel.
--Pres Cavenaugh hit his second career walk-off.
--Austin Parsley earned his 16th start of the season.
--He and Alex Hoppe struck out a combined six batters.
--With GC Jarman' s two hits and two runs yesterday, his season total is now 32 hits and 21 runs.
--Hogan Windish hit his 14th home run of the season. His career total is 32.
 
POSTSEASON AWARDS
--The Spartans had six players earn spots on the SoCon Coaches and Media All-Conference teams.
--Hogan Windish was named the coaches Player of the Year, while Alex Hoppe was named the unanimous Pitcher of the Year.
--Windish and Hoppe also earned spots on the first team as well.
--Austin Parsley, Mitchell Smith, Pres Cavenaugh, and Kennedy Jones were named to the All-SoCon Second Team.
--Jones was named to the All-Freshman Team.
 
GOING THE DISTANCE
-RHP Austin Parsley and LHP Jared Mathewson both pitched a complete game in the series against VMI.
-It was the second complete game for Parsley and the first for Mathewson.
--Mathewson struck out six batters in the 7-3 win on Sunday.
--Parsley struck out eight batters on Saturday.
 
CAREER MILESTONE TRACKER
--Jared Mathewson and Austin Parsley are nearing the 200 mark in career strikeouts.
--Mathewson needs four more, while Parsley needs 11 more.

--Budzik, Windish, and Hardison are climbing the UNCG career records this season.
