SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week
Â
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – In the final round of weekly awards this season,
Gabby Seeds of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Setter of the Week for the third time this year, announced by the league office Monday.
Seeds recorded 71 assists and a .346 set percentage on the week. She averaged 8.88 assists per set in eight sets played, while adding 21 digs, two kills, one ace and one block on the week.
She recorded her ninth career double-double and seventh of the season after leading the contest at ETSU with 43 digs and chipping in 14 digs.
"Setter of the Week isn't an individual achievement," said Seeds. "It's the result of a team that shows up with grit, trust and heart. I truly couldn't have done it without them. Success is always a team effort."
The Plano, Texas, native is second in the SoCon with 883 assists and a 9.50 assists per set average.
Seeds reached the 1,000-career assist milestone this season in the team's reverse sweep win over UNC Asheville on Sept. 20 in Greensboro and currently stands at 1,613 assists in her career.
Seeds' recognition marks the seventh SoCon Player of the Week award for the Spartans this season.
Allie Sweet was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 1 & Sept. 15),
Chloe Nussbaum earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1,
Connore' Siler-Nixon was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, and Seeds previously earned the feat twice (Oct. 20 & Nov. 3).
The last time UNCG earned seven SoCon weekly awards in a season was in 2021 as the Spartans collected nine in total that year. In addition, that was the last time a setter recorded three SoCon Setter of the Week awards in a season as Gabriela McHugh achieved the mention four times in 2021.
