GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will travel to Chicago, Illinois, to take on the University of Chicago-Illinois (UIC) for a three-game series at Curtis Granderson Stadium. First pitch is slated for Friday at 5:05 p.m. ET and 4:05 p.m. CT. Game two on Saturday is scheduled for 3:05 ET and 2:05 CT. The series will conclude on Sunday at 2:05 ET and 1:05 CT.  

 LAST TIME OUT     

• The Spartans lost against Liberty, 12-10, on Tuesday but bounced back with a win over North Carolina A&T, 9-7, on Wednesday.  

• UNCG went 10-for-19 with two outs against A&T.  

• The Spartans' 7-8-9 hitters went 6-for-12 with four runs scored and eight RBIs against Liberty on Tuesday.  

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS        

• The Spartans enter the series 7-11 overall and 1-5 in road contests.     

• UNCG is nationally ranked in: triples (2nd/10), triples per game (4th/ 0.56), sacrifice flies (12th/14) and stolen bases (46th/34).    

• The Spartans' offense has been hot this week with back-to-back games with 10+ hits and 8+ RBIs.  

• Dilley has been one of the best hitters in The Southern Conference (SoCon), hitting .388with 26 base knocks, which is third and second in the league, respectively.  He also driven in 12 RBIs this season.   

• Jacob Budzik leads the team and is ranked 27th in the nation in doubles with eight. He also ranks first in the SoCon in triples with three.  

• Jake Mueller leads the team in RBIs with 14 this season.   

• Redshirt freshman Isaac Miles has been leading the way for the Spartans in the pitching staff, boasting a 4.42 ERA in four appearances with 18 innings pitched and a 2-0 record.  

• Out of the bullpen, Ayden West and Ethan Nobles have been the most effective relievers with each having an ERA of 3.00 in 12 and 11 innings pitched, respectively.  

• The Spartans were voted to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.            

• Junior left-handed pitcher Noah Chapman was named to the Preseason All-SoCon Second Team ahead of the season after throwing 68.1 innings with a 5.14 ERA in 21 appearances in 2025.         

• UNCG concluded the 2025 season with a 21-33 overall record and went 9-12 in SoCon play.         

• Head Coach Cody Ellis enters his third season at the helm of the Spartans, guiding them to a 61-65 record during his time.         

SCOUTING THE FLAMES  

• UIC welcomes UNCG for its home opener; they enter the contest 4-10-1. 

• Most recently, the Flames tied Northwestern, 3-3, with the game being called due to darkness on Tuesday. 

• The Flames rank 35th in the nation in shutouts with one.  

• UIC is one of the premier fielding teams in the nation, boasting a .976 fielding percentage which is 69th in the nation.  

• Lucas Smith and Jake Busson lead the team with 13 RBIs apiece.  

• The pitching staff is led by Mason Lei, who in four starts has a 2.21 ERA and 19 strikeouts.  

• Head Coach Sean McDermott enters his fifth season as head of the program with a 111-113record.
