Cross Country Announces 2021 Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A trip to Louisville highlights the 2021 UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's cross country schedule announced by head coach Chad Pearson Thursday afternoon. CLICK FOR COMPLETE SCHEDULE

"We are excited to get back to a fall cross country schedule after the past year of cancellations and delays," Pearson said. "The best part of our season and schedule is that we are back to competing for an entire fall.  This will certainly give us motivation to prepare for a high level of performance at each of our competitions."

The Spartans begin their season by competing at the Elon Opener on Friday, September 3. Two weeks later on Friday, September 17, the Spartans remain in state to participate in the adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary.

The visit to Louisville to race in the Louisville Classic on Saturday, October 2 begins a month in which the Spartans will compete three times. Their final meet before the conference championship will be at the East Carolina Pirate Invitational on Friday, October 15.

The 2021 Southern Conference championships will be held in Lexington, Virginia and hosted by Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, October 30. The UNCG men's and women's cross-country programs each finished fourth at last year's SoCon championship meet.

On the men's side, senior Dylan Christopher earned All-SoCon Cross Country honors after finishing 10th overall during last year's championship meet. Meanwhile on the women's side, Jenna Reiter earned a spot on SoCon All-Freshman Cross Country Team.

The NCAA Southeast Regionals will be held in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday, Nov. 12 and the NCAA Championship meet will be in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday, Nov. 20.

"In developing this schedule, it allows us to include important segments of training throughout the season while racing at times that we want to take advantage of this increased fitness especially during our championship season," Pearson said.
