GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Aja Boyd joined the UNC Greensboro women's basketball team as a transfer for the 2017-18 season.
As a redshirt Sophomore Boyd started and played in all games but one. She was ranked third in the SoCon in offensive rebounding. Boyd registered her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards along with a career-high six steals in the win over Young Harris.
Boyd started in every game but one in her second season as a Spartan. She had a team-best shooting percentage of .557 ranking third in the conference and averaging 11.2 points a game and 7.1 rebounds per contest. Boyd is currently second on the team with the most points scored this season.
Due to injury, Boyd was unable to play for two years but, announced her return to the G for her final season last April.
In her final season as a Spartan, Boyd catered a career-high against Mercer with 28 points. In her career, she leads the team in double-figure scoring totaling 61. As well as double-double scoring throughout her career, she also leads the team in double-double games totaling 13.
Aja will graduate in May with her master's, but before she does, she had one final goodbye to the UNCG women's basketball program.

This journey has been a long one. One with some of my hardest moments but has simultaneously brought me more joy than I can account for. This program has nurtured me from a 19-year-old girl to a 23-year-old woman. You have built me up and taught me gratitude, understanding, and empathy. Thank you for giving me with the opportunity to see the world. Traveling to Italy was a moment that I will never forget on top of winning a championship and a ring to show for it.
To Coach Patterson, there are not enough thank you's for bringing me into your program and even more so for allowing me to complete my last year. You believed in me from day 1 and have never wavered. Thank you for your guidance, your knowledge, the laughs we've shared, and the relationship we've built over the years.
Sitting here in my sixth year, never would I have thought my journey would stretch out this long but there are never flaws in God's plans and truthfully I would not change a thing.

The Spartans will honor their seniors this Saturday after the game against Western Carolina. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
