GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team breaks up Southern Conference (SoCon) play with a mid-week doubleheader against non-conference foe Radford at UNCG Softball Stadium on Wednesday.

DOUBLES FOR DAYS
Brown, who leads the Spartans with 11 doubles has hit a season best, just bypassing her 10 from 2021.
 
In the three-game series against Mercer, the junior doubled three times, including her first multi-double game on Saturday hitting two.
 
She is 12th in the nation with her 11 doubles.
 
Loftin is second on the team with eight doubles. She had a program-best three doubles in a 10-9 eight-inning win against Elon on March 20.
 
OUT OF THE PARK
The Spartans have recorded at least one home run in 25 of the 30 games played this season.
 
UNCG has had 17 games with two or more home runs. The Spartans have had four games with three home runs. There have been two games with four home runs, two games with five home runs, and one game with a season-best eight homers.
 
Jordan Gontram leads the way with 10 home runs, while Grace Loftin is second with nine homers, and Blayke Batten is third with eight. Makenna Matthijs and Samantha Lagrama have each hit seven home runs, while Maycin Brown and Delaney Cumbie have blasted six each.
 
Brooklynn Maxwell, Hannah Kincer, and Jessie Shipley have each contributed three.

AWARDS ON AWARDS
Junior Maycin Brown was named SoCon Player of the Week and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week most recently.
Morgan Scott earned her second SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor this week.
Freshman Grace Loftin was named SoCon Player of the Week and D1 Softball Freshman of the Week on March 21.
Junior Maycin Brown was tabbed SoCon Player of the Month for February.
Junior Morgan Scott was most recently selected SoCon Pitcher of the Week on March 14.
Senior Delaney Cumbie was tabbed SoCon Player of the Week on March 7 after helping UNCG to a 3-2 week.
Junior Blayke Batten led the way for the Spartans during their five-game week. She earned UNCG's second Player of the Week award on Feb. 28.
Graduate student Jordan Gontram earned the first SoCon Player of the Week award for the Spartans announced on Feb. 21.

SPARTANS' LAST TIME OUT
  • UNCG swept Mercer in its first SoCon series of the season.
  • Each of the games were run-rule victories for the Spartans.
  • On Saturday, the Spartans won 15-4 and 12-4 and on Sunday UNCG defeated the Bears 19-1.
  • In the Sunday game, UNCG crushed a program-best eight homers, with five of the eight coming in the fourth inning.
  • Loftin launched three of the eight that day.
  • This was the fourth time in program history that a Spartan has hit three homers in a game.
  • Scott struck out seven batters in her 12th win of the season.
  • UNCG hit 18 home runs in 12 innings of offense.  
SCOUTING RADFORD
  • Radford was picked to finish fifth in the Big South Preseason Poll.
  • First-year head coach Alisa Tasler has guided the Highlanders to a 10-16 overall mark and a 3-6 conference record thus far.
  • Madison Canady and Jessie Marvin are the only returners who received Big South honors, being named to the Honorable Mention Team.
  • Cori McMillan is the lone Highlander batting above .300 with a .355 clip.
  • McMillan also leads the team in RBI (25), home runs (9), slugging percentage (.789), stolen bases (7-7), doubles (6), hits (27), and runs (18).
  • Six other Highlanders have contributed double-digit hits.
  • Hannah Poole (13), Cassi Barbato (11), and Jordan Moss (10) are the other Radford hitters with double-digit RBI.
  • Marvin has tossed a team-high 68.0 innings this year with a 3-6 record with one save, and a 3.19 ERA.
HISTORY VS. RADFORD
  • UNCG leads the series 33-15.
  • The Spartans split with the Highlanders in 2021 in Radford, Va.
