ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
A decade after his graduation, Alex Lehnhoff still stands today as the winningest men's tennis student-athlete in school history.
The 1999 Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, Lehnhoff earned a top-70 ranking nationally on his way to a 24-7 mark in his senior year. He also held the school mark for singles wins in a season with 27 in his sophomore year ( 1996-97).
He was an all-conference selection all four years - earning it twice from the Big South and twice in the Southern Conference. Along with his SoCon Player of the Year award, Lehnhoff was also the Big South's Rookie of the Year in 1996.
Lehnhoff’s career mark of 94-37 in singles matches is still the Spartan men's tennis program's all-time record. He was the first Spartan to ever qualify for the main draw at the Rolex Championship, doing so in his sophomore season.
