Shannon Donovan – the 2006 Southern Conference Player of the Year and three-time All-Conference selection – was a key midfielder on UNCG women’s soccer teams coached by Eddie Radwanski.

As a senior, she was Conference Player of the Year and Tournament MVP and paced the team to 13 wins and a tie in its last 14 regular-season and conference tournament games after a 1-7 start. The season concluded in the NCAA first round, the second time it made an appearance in her career.

Donovan was 2003 SoCon Freshman of the Year and was twice All-Region, in 2005 and 2006. She was named to the SoCon 25th Anniversary Team in 2007 and the 100th Anniversary Team in 2021.

A four-year starter, she scored 11 goals and tallied 22 assists in 81 games. Her 22 career assists are ninth all-time at UNCG.

She graduated from UNCG in 2008.

Shannon resides in Tucson, AZ with her husband Guy Welsh, and two boys, Donovan and Brayden. She works as a Criminal Paralegal at the Pima County attorney’s office and also is a photographer.
