A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Orcun Seyrek was a standout member of the men’s tennis team from 2008-12. He earned Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year recognition as well as seven SoCon First Team awards and helped the 2010 squad win the program’s first SoCon Tournament Championship.

Over his career wearing the Blue & Gold, Seyrek earned SoCon First Team singles honors in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and conference First Team doubles awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He collected a number of SoCon Player of the Week and SoCon Player of the Month accolades.

As a freshman in 2008-09, he made an immediate impact by posting a 25-5 record at No. 1 singles including 8-0 in SoCon spring play. He was 18-8 at No. 1 doubles. He was the first player from any institution to win SoCon Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the same year. He repeated as Player of the Year as a senior.

In 2021, Seyrek was one of 33 UNCG student-athletes named to the SoCon 100th Anniversary Team across the range of conference sports.

Prior to his collegiate career with the Spartans, he represented Turkey while playing with National Teams in various age groups.
