ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Few student-athletes get the opportunity to lead a team to the NCAA Tournament. Christine Hornak is the rare student-athlete that led two.
After leading Campbell to the NCM Tournament in 1995 - ironically keeping the Spartans out of the tourney, she transferred to UNCG and pitched the Spartans to the 1997 NCAA Tournament.
Christine won 52 games with the Spartans, ranking third on the school's career win list despite only pitching for the team for two seasons. She recorded 399 strikeouts in those two seasons and was named the Big South Pitcher of the Week five times.
Her 27 wins and totals of 278 I /3 innings pitched, 262 strikeouts and 35 complete games in 1997 are still single-season records at UNCG. In 1997, she won Big South Pitcher of the Year honors.
