ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Coach Nancy Porter's 1973 UNCG women's golf team won the national collegiate championship by one stroke over Rollins College at The Orchards in South Hadley, Mass. It was the first University team to win a national title. A pioneer of intercollegiate athletics at Woman’s College (now UNCG) Nancy was one of the institution's first student-athletes, competing in national collegiate golf tournaments between academic years in the late 1940s. She won the Women's Cincinnati City golf championship at the age of 16.
