ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Nelson Bobb has spent the last 25 years as the Director of Athletics at UNCG. During that time, he has led the athletic department from Division Ill to Division II to Division I in NCAA status in an astounding five-year time frame. In his tenure, the department has doubled from eight teams to 16.
Nelson has overseen the construction or renovation of every current UNCG athletic facility during his tenure. As the first full-time person to hold the title Director of Athletics in UNCG's history, he has been at the head of the development of the infrastructure for the welfare of UNCG's student-athletes. During that time, UNCG's student-athletes have consistently graduated at a rate equal to or better than the University rate.
Under his leadership, UNCG has won four national titles and 62 conference regular-season titles to go along with 36 conference tournament titles. UNCG has hosted numerous national and international competitions during his time, most notably the 1997 and 1998 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament's semifinal and final rounds.
Nelson has also served on numerous conference and national committees, including a current seat on NACDA's NCAA Division I-AAA Executive Committee.
