Joe was UNCG's all-time wins leader until 2007, a record that stood for 11 years.
He went 98-25 in his four seasons at UNCG ( 1994-97). He qualified for the NCAA Championship three times at 158 lbs., becoming the first wrestler to qualify for the championship in 1995.
He won two Colonial Athletic Association titles, winning at 158 in his sophomore and junior seasons. He followed that up with a Southern Conference crown in his senior year. Joe won 20 or more matches three of his four seasons and was 48-5 in dual competition during his career.
Joe was also the first wrestler in the program's history to place at the prestigious Midlands Tournament, placing seventh after winning five of his seven matches
