ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
In four years as a student-athlete at UNCG, 1983-87, Andrew Mehalko played a significant role in the success of the men's soccer team. He played on NCAA Division III champion teams in 1983, 1985, and 1986. He holds the record for most career points (27) scored in NCAA Division III tournament play.
As a freshman, his goal in the national championship game against ClaremontMudd-Scripps (CA) tied the match at 2 and helped the team come from behind to claim its second consecutive NCAA title and set the record for most wins in a season 23-1-1.
He scored a hat trick in the 1985 NCAA Division III championship finals (all in the first half of play). He was the leading scorer in the 1985 NCAA Division III soccer championship, scoring six goals and three assists (second-highest total ever).
