ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Few dedicated as much time and effort to the athletics program's elevation to Division I status as did Ty Buckner. His service to UNCG began as a student, working in what would eventually become the Sports Information Office, then housed under the wing of the university's news department.
After his graduation in 1984, Buckner took on full-time roles in the department, beginning with the title of Sports Information Director and working his way up to Associate Director of Athletics for Public Affairs. During that time, he laid the foundation for the Athletics Hall of Fame and later served as the selection committee's chair (2001-2007).
He left the university in 2001 to move into the administration at neighboring Guilford College, where he still serves today as Associate Vice President of Communications and Marketing.
