ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Eric Cuthrell (1993-96) was a two-time first-team All-Big South selection and a key member of UNCG's first Division I NCAA Tournament squad. A unique player who preferred coming off the bench to starting, Cuthrell appeared in 113 games in his four-year career while starting just nine times.
The 6-foot, 8-inch forward from Lexington, N.C., scored 983 points, grabbed 859 rebounds, and blocked a then-UNCG career record 183 shots during his four seasons with the Spartans. Cuthrell helped lead the Spartans to a Big South Conference Tournament championship and subsequent NCAA Tournament berth in 1996, back-to-back Big South Conference regular-season titles, and consecutive 20-win seasons in 1995 and 1996.
For his career, Cuthrell averaged 8.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. His best season came in 1994-95 when he averaged 11.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
