ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
Dr. June Galloway helped establish the blueprint for what is today's UNCG Athletics.
Dr. Galloway served as the coordinator for student teachers, as well as the coordinator of the Athletic Division, and was one of the first women's basketball coaches. She headed the women's basketball program for three seasons ( 1969-1972) during which time they amassed a record of 38-14 and a .731 winning percentage. In 1971, the team participated in the NIWIT tournament and finished fourth in the national collegiate tournament.
Dr. Galloway received her master's degree and a doctorate in education from UNCG. She joined the faculty at UNCG in 1957.
Following a short illness, Dr. Galloway passed away in March of 1974.
